tacos al pastor

BCDB4E36-AC52-4121-ADCD-D50575809548So tonight my daughter (whose art is featured) and I ate tacos al pastor at my favorite Mexican restaurant. Little did I know that this dish is often the best on any Mexican menu. (Thanks sweet daughter)Ā Lebanese immigration to Mexico started in the 19th and early 20th centuries. In 1892, the first Lebanese arrived in Mexico from Beirut in French ships to Mexican ports. They brought this recipe to Mexico.Ā Grilling a vertical spit of stacked meat slices and cutting it off as it cooks was developed in the 19th century in Ottoman Turkey. This is dƶner kebab, which is the origin of tacos al pastor, Middle Eastern shawarma, and Greek gyros. Now I understand why I like them so much!!
