Magnetic Island

D814B863-1F8B-4922-893D-A0AE05FADD0BMagnetic Island is an island 5 miles offshore of Townsville, Queensland, Australia. This mountainous island has a large National Park with one of the largest koala populations and trails between the populated bays and a number of tourist destinations, such as the World War II forts. The island has long become established as a holiday destination with many hotels and several resorts. Magnetic Island is named for its apparent mysterious effect on Captain Cook’s compass.
