‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭12:19-20‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Recently I have noticed the overuse of the word authentic, which I regard as the genuine wholehearted truth. In my businesses, others have encouraged me to be “authentic”, as if normally I should be expected to lie. It seems to me the act of coaching someone to be “authentic” in a “certain way” is anything but authentic. I understand that we all have to guard our tongues and not always say what is truly on our minds; but, let’s not call marketing completely “authentic”. In healthcare, we walk the narrow tightrope of “authentic” with pressure from malpractice and patient satisfaction concerns. Indeed the state of our healthcare is anything but authentic. I used to love the word, authentic. Now I wish I could freely live it.
