Hope

26FC1776-92C5-42EF-B59B-C12B9B617692“I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I hope;”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭130:5‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Hope

Some people have reminded me to be more positive in my BLOG posts, even though I see them as mostly positive. Living in today’s world, there is a spiritual warfare surrounding us that has escalated beyond my wildest dreams. The level of suffering and pain has reached new heights. Often, I feel helpless because one person can only do so much to correct the many problems of society. I struggle to maintain some sense of self worth, in an environment that seeks to criticize and blame and harass. What can we do? I always come back to God and rest assured that He is our only Hope. Praise be to God!

First Dance

C8739EE4-9902-4A48-8E95-DFDC444826A3“a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;”
‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭3:4‬ ‭ESV‬‬

The tradition of first dances at weddings is not that old. Perhaps as early as the 17th century, wealthy families had first dances at balls to celebrate the hosts or special guests. But weddings adopted the concept.
The first dance of a newly married couple shows the love and unity between them. The synchronization represents an important guideline for a good marriage. It gives the new couple an opportunity to express through body language the love chemistry with their graceful dance movements. The bride and groom come close to each other and the combination of the song and the dance steps of the couple speak for how they feel about each other. It strengthens their unity and they and their guests cherish the memories forever.

Entropy

‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭3:12‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Entropy

Our hearts long for eternal joy. God has given us that gift and yet the enemy seeks to drive us into chaos through confusion. After all, the enemy is the master of confusion and tries to seduce us with sinful ways. Our world tempts us with power, money, sex and more. Instead of following His Way, we attempt to legitimize our own way. Anything not only goes, it is condoned. Watching our politicians lately has been sickening because essentially they represent the spiritual warfare that is being waged. We all know that our societal entropy is accelerating; but, we are overwhelmed at the enormity of the problem.

Election Day

4775694F-2A65-49F5-BA0A-56E49DFB4F4AElection Day

Our democracy allows us to choose our government representatives. Election Day is the appointed day for us to vote. Though our freedom depends upon this right, many eligible voters do not vote. I believe our country has become too large and too complicated for the current system, not to mention the many claims of voter fraud. Every eligible voter has a social security number that attaches that person with a date of birth and much more. Why can’t we allow voters a week to vote online, whether at home or at voting sites with computers and support? The security issues should be easier to control and there should be greater participation, not to mention the time savings.

Sacrifice

DE80CA3B-1070-48F8-AF49-9B5B76039381“Then I looked, and I heard around the throne and the living creatures and the elders the voice of many angels, numbering myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice, “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!””
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭5:11-12‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Sacrifice

In a world full of materialism and self-centeredness, it is miraculous that many people do actually sacrifice for others. Often these extreme acts of love and kindness are overlooked. As a parent, I now know how parents often sacrifice so much for their children; but, it happens with perfect strangers as well. The ultimate sacrifice is giving one’s life to save others and while that occasionally happens in our modern day world, nothing compares to what Christ did for everyone on The Cross. He died to cover our sins and make us righteous to God. My mind cannot comprehend such love, but my heart can feel the joy of salvation.

Halloween

As a child, Halloween was one of my favorite holidays. I really didn’t care about the costumes or trick or treating, but I loved the candy. That was the one time of year where the candy choices were so diverse. We always went to our cousins’ street in the nearby small town where the pickings were good. Then we would visit our relatives and eat candy until our hearts were content and our bellies were nauseatingly full. Over the years, I have celebrated Halloween in a similar fashion with my own children including wearing a few costumes. We never considered it a religious holiday, just a fun day to celebrate life. Reading about the history of Halloween I have learned that there are all sorts of religious stances on this day, even though the religious origin is controversial. In my opinion, we need a fun day to celebrate where we come together in love, rather than having another excuse to be decisive in hatred.

Healthcare Bleeding

Our healthcare system is truly in a crisis. Most people in the field or using the services clearly see how broken it has become. In effect, the system is “bleeding” money away from patient care and into a vast bureaucracy. A recent study shows that the biggest cost increases have come from insurance companies, pharmaceuticals, and administrations. Physicians, although commonly blamed, do not substantially contribute to the rise in costs directly. Having been in the field since 1981, I am appalled at the attack on physicians from multiple fronts, mainly legal through continued legislation that only adds to costs and derails patient care. We have become hired “guns” and they are looking for cheaper ones; hence, a flooding of poorly trained, mass produced physicians and mid level providers will assume the reigns of seasoned physicians who are leaving the field prematurely, during their peak productive years. I don’t see an easy answer, but am open to suggestions.
