‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭11:14‬ ‭ESV‬‬

As we await our flight to Costa Rica, the weather is deteriorating from sunshine to rain. Despite my best intentions, I tend to worry about the possibilities—delays, turbulence, etc. I have been waiting for this special vacation all year, and I despise disappointment. Realizing I must accept whatever happens, I find comfort in knowing that rain is a blessing—without it, we could not survive. Trusting in God defines my Faith so whatever He brings, I will accept.

“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭136:1‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Disappointment is defined as the sadness caused by the nonfulfillment of one’s expectations. When we measure by worldly standards, we are disappointed everyday. Today I was disappointed many times. It started with expecting someone to do his job in a timely fashion for the sake of patients. Unfortunately he chose to do the minimum that would not break his contractual obligations. Patients and staff bore the burden. Then someone else interfered with my care of a patient by literally practicing medicine without a license. Instead of being commended for calling them out on their behaviors, I received negative feedback for expecting too much. Wow, I already have my own self worth issues and this kind of nonsense only feeds that lie. Thankfully I know that these events are part of the enemy’s lies and I hold on to the one true Hope.
