Common Sense

Common sense is the sound and prudent judgment based on a simple perception of the situation or facts. We commonly say that common sense is not common, and I often ponder why not. Perhaps we rely upon the opinion of others instead of being critical thinkers ourselves. Our education system and our media rich world constantly bombard us with bits of information, often aimed at influencing us to change our opinion/behavior. Whenever l read “news” on the internet, I try to read the comments because more often than not, the comments give a more realistic view.

Leap of Faith

Sometimes our minds cannot figure it out and we must accept things without all the facts. Actually we take such steps everyday, but when the stakes are high, we feel the pressure of uncertainty. To overcome these times, it indeed takes Faith.

“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11:1‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Grace

‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2:8‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Grace is a favorable disposition towards someone. It is a voluntary act of goodwill. God has extended His Grace (favor) to us that we should exemplify the same in dealing with others. They might not deserve it, but neither do we.

Christmas Tradition

There are so many different Christmas traditions from all around the world. Growing up, my father did all his shopping Christmas Eve and yet Christmas morning was always magical and full of anticipation and joy. Over the years, I have realized that the best Christmas tradition is being with the ones we love, for true joy comes from loving relationships. May your Christmas tradition be filled with love and joy.

Honorable

synonyms:
morally correct, honest, moral, ethical, principled, righteous, right-minded, full of integrity, decent, respected, respectable, venerable, virtuous, good, upstanding, upright, worthy, noble, high-principled, fair, just, truthful, trustworthy, trusty, law-abiding, incorruptible, reliable, reputable, dependable, faithful, illustrious, distinguished, eminent, great, admirable, glorious, prestigious, noble, notable, creditable, renowned, esteemed
During President Bush’s funeral today, the word honorable came to mind and seemed to sum up this man’s character. He was a member of the great generation and leaves us with great respect and admiration.
In contrast, I recall a recent court experience where the judge was called honorable, but the synonyms listed above certainly did not apply. This judge accepted the position of honor, but failed to assume the responsibilities of fulfilling that expectation. In a nutshell, that summarizes most of our society’s problems.

My daughter, Sarah, is the artist featured on all my BLOG posts. Her art inspires me and I believe she will inspire anyone with her heart and soul—she is sincerely sweet! Art seems to be undervalued in our society and taken for granted, but it can change our world to a more loving and peaceful place. Right now, she is offering Christmas specials on her artwork.
