Forgiveness is an intentional, voluntary process when a victim changes the negative feelings and attitude regarding the offender. When someone has been mean to me and hurt me, there is the natural tendency to want to get revenge and make them feel the same pain and suffering. But, despite what feels justifiable, forgiving is the truly right thing to do and it will give ultimate freedom from the offender. Furthermore, God wants us to forgive others as He forgives us for our transgressions. Personally, I forgive quickly and easily, but I have a difficult time forgetting, which leaves some lingering negative feelings. When no apology has been offered, the forgiving is especially hard for me. Truly the offender does not deserve forgiveness, but neither do I.

Labor Day

Labor Day
Labor Day was first celebrated in 1882 to honor our workers who sustain our country. Today, only about 40% of our population is in our workforce. Need I say more? Certainly our traditional values do not condone idleness, but our government has created such entitlements that work is optional. But the natural end to this trend is socialism where the Land of the Free becomes the Home of the Slave.

Memorial Day

Memorial Day is a United States holiday celebrating all of those people who died while serving in our armed forces. These heroes have died to preserve our freedom as American citizens. They have given the ultimate sacrifice to save us from hostile enemy forces. But the Ultimate Sacrifice was God sacrificing His only Son to protect us from evil. For that, we should celebrate MEMORIAL DAY every day.

Window of Opportunity

The world seems crazy to me right now and our country seems to be running wild, with never ending political battles, fighting over ideology. Truth is…we all fall short of being who we should be. I am hopeful that the majority of people will see this chaotic time as a window of opportunity to work on being the best they can be and to work on the obvious needs of our society. Our differences cannot be settled, and should be appreciated for the advantages of diversity, instead of being used politically to destroy decorum.



As we celebrate our country’s Independence Day, I reflect upon the meaning of freedom. Perhaps the one that best suits is the choice to make one’s own decisions. Living in The USA gives us so many opportunities to be free. (but we are not exempt from the consequences of those decisions) Yes, we have our own problems as a country; but, all one has to do is travel the world to see how fortunate we are to have so many freedoms.

In the words of Thomas Jefferson:

We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
