Nostalgia

Nostalgia

Looking at this map of Belmont brought back some precious memories.  We lived there when Sarah (sincerelysarahstudios) was born.  While it brings sentimental feelings for that period of my life, I do not long to return to that time.  But while I know we should always live in the present, I tend to dream of the future and imagine something far better.  Most people do not think of me as an optimist because I tend to be critical (a great skill for scientific methodology and physician diagnostics), but I believe something far greater and better awaits us.  It is with that Hope that I proceed along my path.

Imagination

Imagination

One definition of imagination is the forming of experiences in the mind. One of my favorite ways to relax is to imagine. It turns out this mental activity is very complex and no one explanation of its mechanism will suffice. Two of my favorite movies mention imagination, The Italian Job and Miracle on 34 Street.
Having imagination tends to afford resourcefulness and creativity. (It seems to me our government needs more of those qualities) Strangely enough, sometimes I can actually see with my eyes closed in complete darkness; and, now I understand that the Mind’s eye, developed through imagination, accounts for such phenomena. Can you imagine??

Daydreaming

Daydreaming is a time when your brain focuses on whatever it wants and it allows you to feel peace and hope and to relieve stress. I believe it is the opposite of mindfulness. Daydreaming allows you to be creative and imaginative and to solve problems. It seems to me that while our societal demands require more and more protocols, our ability to think is disappearing.

Sad ‘R’ Us

Toys ‘R’ Us goes out of business after 70 years, leaving a void for many youngsters, and an unemployed giraffe named Geoffrey. How sad is that😭
So many children including my own have wandered in the magical wonderland of toys, imagining all the incredible possibilities. Will online sales replace that experience and spark the imagination in the years to come?? Somehow I believe the demand for such toy venues will return to recreate that dream.
