In my oncology profession, being carefree just for a moment can relieve much anxiety. Today, I post these beautiful flowers; and, as I gaze at them mindlessly, a mental fog of serenity replaces all stress—what a happy state of mind to recharge my “batteries”. My training and experience has taught me to understand how directly mental health is linked to physical health and with age this becomes more critical. Relax and enjoy the moment and as my mother always said, “Take time to smell the roses.”

Why such drug abuse?

66177757-F276-42A3-A567-EB6B0B22AAC1Does anyone else find it rather confusing that we now have an opioid “crisis” when these drugs have been around for so long? They have become more of a problem recently, despite being tightly controlled by the DEA; yet, we are in the process of legalizing marijuana. Personally, I don’t think we can keep people from abusing dangerous substances. We can make the legal ones harder to get, but when we do, the illegal ones replace them. And the illegal ones are not always produced safely. It does seem the mental health issues involved are not adequately addressed. Any suggestions??
