One definition of imagination is the forming of experiences in the mind. One of my favorite ways to relax is to imagine. It turns out this mental activity is very complex and no one explanation of its mechanism will suffice. Two of my favorite movies mention imagination, The Italian Job and Miracle on 34 Street.
Having imagination tends to afford resourcefulness and creativity. (It seems to me our government needs more of those qualities) Strangely enough, sometimes I can actually see with my eyes closed in complete darkness; and, now I understand that the Mind’s eye, developed through imagination, accounts for such phenomena. Can you imagine??


Daydreaming is a time when your brain focuses on whatever it wants and it allows you to feel peace and hope and to relieve stress. I believe it is the opposite of mindfulness. Daydreaming allows you to be creative and imaginative and to solve problems. It seems to me that while our societal demands require more and more protocols, our ability to think is disappearing.

Since that time, the number of articles devoted to mindfulness has grown exponentially such that by 2025, potentially all medical articles will be on mindfulness. It is nearly impossible to get through medical training without multiple lectures/courses on mindfulness. Perhaps if physicians are focused on mindfulness, they will not notice what is happening to healthcare.
