Live in the Present

5F962604-2EC1-4410-BBA2-3D923BB4DC71“Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭12:12‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Our church message today is that God is always with us each moment and we must live in the present.  The many distractions of this world tend to misdirect our focus on things that do not bring us closer to God.  Indeed we should be still, away from the “noise” and feel God’s presence.  Only then can we live to our true identity.  As the new week begins, I will strive to stay in the moment and live in this awareness and stop worrying about what lies ahead.  God is with us always and will be there forever and all we have to do is have Faith.

Even a Rose has to Blossom

Even a Rose has to Blossom

One of the lessons I have learned in life is that it takes time to get the results one wants. We learn patience when we do not get what we want in our time. Just think—even a Rose has to blossom and that takes time. In our self centered world, we want everything we want immediately. Often, the best things only come with hard work, perseverance and patience. We must keep our eyes on the prize. As I always have told my children, “Do your best, do what’s right and trust in God.”

Home on The Range

As I reflect on this painting of The Range at UVA, I recall my time there in 3rd year medical school. It seems like only yesterday, but it was many years ago. I am reminded how quickly time passes and how I should be patient as I pursue my future goals. One of my pursuits is my skincare business and as we expand globally, I realize its potential. It takes time to build a business, but patience pays off.

Eagles

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭40:31‬ ‭ESV‬‬

My daughter painted this eagle as we were watching a documentary about one of my favorite bands, The Eagles, who chose their name while they were in the desert searching for their spirit animal.
Eagles are known for their strength, size, keenness of vision, and powers of flight. What a majestic bird that has been a symbol for so many things through the years.
